These pumps are hot-water pumps that conform to the norms of API 610 and Germany for district heating and power plants.
Major places of use are district heating (network pumps for bigger cities),

power plants, hot water supply and industry. 
An ordinary mechanical seal is used  if temperature is up to 160 ºC , a mechanical seal with air cooling is used if temperature is up to 200 ºC, and a mechanical seal with water cooling is used if liquid is over 200ºC.

Pumps of this type are typical cooling water pumps for big power plants.

The biggest cooling-water pumps for a power plant manufactured by KSB were delivered to China, Yuhuan Power Plant. Eight pumps, each of them transfers flows 16 m3/s at the head of 22 m. The pump motor is 4600 kW, revolutions velocity 300 r/min and each pump weighs 130 ton.
